BlackBerry Developer QuickPlay Ramping Up for Future IPO
QuickPlay Media, the maker of PrimeTime2Go has announced that they would like to go public in the next year or two “if the investment climate is right”, said CEO Wayne Purboo.
“Our mission today is to build the best company we can so we have the option of an IPO,” Mr. Purboo said in a telephone interview Thursday. “If our revenue and our projections are in good shape and the market will bear an IPO, there is no reason we would not do that.”
Primetime2Go is an application that lets users watch shows like “The Office” and “Desperate Housewives” on their internet enabled BlackBerry smartphone. The application does not currently work on that smartphone made by Apple, but the name eludes me. (HA!)
QuickPlay sells their service through RIM’s App Store at a monthly subscription price of $7.99. This price allows the customer to download full episodes of network TV shows to their BlackBerry smartphones.
