BlackBerry: The Best Traveling Companion?

blackberrybeach2 300x199 BlackBerry: The Best Traveling Companion?

The entire reason I bought a laptop about five years ago was because I liked the idea of portability behind it. As the years progressed I took my laptop on countless trips all over the country and to Mexico. However, all those years of traveling and wear-and-tear took a toll on my beloved computer and now it can barely be moved without falling apart. So about a year ago I decided to invest in a handheld computer, my BlackBerry Curve 8330.

The biggest appeal, for me, to a BlackBerry was the ability to access the internet. Obviously, as a teenager, I do a lot of social networking. But I also do quite a bit of business through the web. So it only seemed smart to take it with me everywhere I went. However, at first I was somewhat skeptical of whether or not this small device could replace my laptop.

Well, I would be lying if I said BlackBerry’s, or any handheld device, could replace an entire computer system. But in some aspect, BlackBerry’s are better. For instance, I recently travel to Washington DC on a family trip. However, I didn’t want to leave my access to the world of friends and business behind. Unfortunately, there was no way my laptop was fit to travel. But then I remembered my BlackBerry could cover most of what I wanted to do. Throughout the trip I used my BlackBerry to access Facebook and Myspace, as well as check and reply to any emails. Sure enough, my BlackBerry kept me connected to the world back home.

And when traveling, BlackBerry’s are often better than laptops. For one, they’re a heck of a lot easier to get through airport security with. Two, they’re obviously a lot more portable and easier to charge. And three, you don’t have to be tied down to your hotel room the entire vacation to get work done!

So next time you go on a trip, make sure you pack your BlackBerry, because they can make a great traveling companion. But keep in mind your BlackBerry’s no good without reception!
