faceRate App Review: Does Science find you Sexy?
Did you ever wonder if you’re ugly or not? Sure, you may walk around with confidence in your looks. But the reality is everyone’s self conscious when it comes to their physical attributes. Well you can take the more daring path of posting your picture on the world-wide web for everyone to poke fun of. Or you can purchase an app that rates your faces physical appearance using science. FaceRate, by mblware, is an app that uses mathematics and certain features in the human face to rate it on a scale of one to ten.
Now, I don’t necessarily understand the science behind this app. However, I did see a show on television that used a similar process in rating faces. The app works by telling you to align a red line with a certain spot on your face (where lips meets, left or right corner of mouth, directly down your nose). This is a little tricky if you’re attempting this by yourself, because you can’t look at the screen and point the camera at yourself at the same time. So I recommend grabbing a friend to help.
The app gives you five ways to rate yourself which include: The Golden ratio, Rule of 5th’s, Vertical Proportion, Transverse Proportion, and External Proportion. And in all honesty I have no clue what any of those mean.
Once you’ve gathered all the data and found your ratings, you can save them with the picture. This is great if you want to compare to friends or show off!
The app is relatively easy to use, but I would ask for a friends help when taking the pictures. As far as accuracy goes its hard to judge. Although, off of the list of celebrity faces this app has rated, they all seemed pretty accurate to me.
All in all this is a fun little app. Now, does the average user need this app? Probably not! However, it was fun to compare friends and family and it did pass some time. For the price of $1.99 it’s worth checking out!
