Greyhound to offer Free Wi-Fi for UK Passengers

greyhound unveiled london Greyhound to offer Free Wi Fi for UK Passengers

Soon people in the United Kingdom will have more than just fish-n-chips to celebrate, because the UK arm of Greyhound has announced that they will soon be offering free wi-fi to their passengers.  The system is being powered by Icomera and runs on a 3G HSPA network connection from Vodafone.

According to the news release Greyhound did a survey and wi-fi was high up on the priority list of passengers.  That and more air fresheners near the toilet.  Ok, I added that last part in.

“We’re delighted that FirstGroup has selected Icomera to provide the on-board Internet technology for its new Greyhound UK services,” said Dave Palmer, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Icomera. “Despite the growth of 3G coverage, passengers will take advantage of free Wi-Fi where it’s available, to avoid eating into monthly bandwidth allowances and to reduce the very high costs of data roaming outside the home cellular network.”

Of course things in the UK have a way of migrating to the United States (pun intended) so if this is a hit across the pond, you can bet we will see it here soon.
