It’s every ones worst nightmare, being stranded at the airport waiting on a delayed flight. The worst part is there’s not a thing you can do. Sure, you checked your flight on your computer before you left the house for the airport. But within the two hours drive anything can happen! So what can you do?
Simply download FlightCaster directly onto your BlackBerry phone. FlightCaster is a unique application because it has only one specific purpose, predict delayed flights. The company claims to use current FAA alerts, weather, historical averages, flight congestion, inbound flight information and more to predict whether your flight will be on time or delayed. And believe it or not, FlightCaster knows what might happen even before the airlines do!
I put FlightCaster to the test. I selected four departing flights from my local airport, Sky Harbor. I selected each flight about six hours in advance of their scheduled departure; all were on time when I first selected them. FlightCaster took a few minutes to add up the data and give me results. It predicted that one of them would be delayed and the other three would remain on-time. It turned out that FlightCaster was absolutely right! I checked the flights later in the day and discovered all of the flights had departed on time, except for the one FlightCaster predicted would be delayed.
The application is easy to use and install, and it claims to recognize all major airlines. It is also attractive to look at, not just another ugly boring business application.
Now, FlightCaster isn’t all knowing and therefore cannot predict human error, so don’t expect it to be correct one hundred percent of the time. But you will find it will come in handy for those frequent travelers or those who hate waiting at the airport (all of us!). The price might be a little high for some people at $9.99, but keep in mind that the application comes with up to date information. I would recommend this for frequent business travelers who can’t afford to waste their time.
