Qik App Review: Stream Video From Your BlackBerry
Technology has greatly influenced the way the business world communicates. There are now countless ways to interact with a fellow employee or potential customer. Nowadays entire business transactions can be handled electronically without two people ever meeting. But any great business man or woman will tell you, there’s nothing like the real face to face meeting. Well that doesn’t necessary mean you have to meet someone in person. You can have a face to face meeting via video. And all you need is your BlackBerry and the new Qik app!
Qik, by Qik Inc., is an app that enables its users to stream live video from their BlackBerry to the world-wide-web. In essence, it can transform your BlackBerry into a portable webcam. Users can start up the app and choose where they want to stream their video to. Then they film whatever they want to and it will stream live to the selected web address.
This app can be used for business meetings, talking to distant friends, or just saying high to family in a more personal way. It’s kind of the next step to video calls. However, as far as I can tell you can’t stream directly to another phone.
The app is a little complicated to get started, but you can always check out qik.com for some help. You can stream video to any recognized website including: Youtube, Myspace, Facebook, Livestream, Twitter, and others.
The tech specs for this app are as expected. The interface is user friendly and the labeled buttons are self-explanatory. The video quality isn’t fantastic, but that all depends on your BlackBerry model. There’s on obvious expected delay time of a second or two while streaming.
All in all this is a pretty neat app. It’s amazing how far technologies come. I would recommend this app to anyone and everyone, but keep it mind it might take some time to figure out. For the astonishing price of absolutely free, it’s definitely worth checking out!
