Verizon Delays Storm 2 Launch

verizon storm2 delayed Verizon Delays Storm 2 Launch

According to a story on Brighthand.com the launch of the BlackBerry Storm 2, made by Research in Motion (RIM), has been delayed because during testing and certification of the new phone, “problems” were experienced.  The report goes on to say that the device has not yet been able to pass Verizon’s internal tests.

Apparently Verizon is going to extra lengths to ensure this Storm, unlike it’s predecessor, is truly ready for the Verizon customers.  I guess the old addage, “Once bitten, twice shy” applies here.

The Storm 2 differs from the original Storm in that it has WiFi and will feature OS5.0 which is rumored to have some very nice enhancements over the older 4.x OS.  Unfortunately the new Storm 2 still features the “SurePress Technology” for its screen, albeit with the four under-screen sensors and not just one.  The addition of the extra sensors is supposed to eliminate the awful typing issues the original had, but still requires the user to actually push down on the screen to activate keys.

Ultimately the proof of the pudding is under the crust and we will just have to play the wait and see game.  Until actual users put this thing through it’s paces, it’s anyones guess as to how good or bad it will be.
