Verizon Helps California Firefighters and Evacuees
In the past, people from a community fought fires by forming a bucket brigade and everyone pitched in to help. Here is a story of a corporation standing in a virtual line and stepping up to help out.
Verizon Wireless announced today that they are increasing their support for the Firefighters and evacuees of the raging fires in California. Their support includes providing both 130 cell phones and 55 broadband modems. All at no cost to the departments fighting the 40,000 acre fire in the Angeles National Forest and the San Jacinto Mountains.
In addition they have deployed technicians to ensure that the remote communications towers remain operational due to power outage, and increased demand the emergency has placed on the system.
As if that weren’t enough, the Verizon Foundation has contributed an additional $5,000, for a total of $10,000, to the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Kudos to Verizon for coming to the aid of those in need.
