With mVisum and a BlackBerry – Treatment is a Heartbeat Away
As you all know by now I really like to see technology and medicine combine to offer quicker and better treatment for patients at every stage of a problem. In most situations, especially heart related, there is what we call the “golden hour”. The golden hour refers to a time period following a traumatic injury or medical emergency that the likelihood of prompt medical attention will prevent death.
That’s why I was so excited to see an article about a product called mVisum Medical Communication System. The mVisum Medical Communication System is a communication tool that allows medical professionals to securely receive, review and respond to patient data recorded at the point of care.
Information is transmitted via secure HIPAA complaint internet servers then transmitted through mobile technology to the required physicians handheld smartphone.
The types of data include:
- EKG’s
- X-Rays
- DICOM Images
- CT Scans
- Cine Loops
- MRI’s.
As you can imagine, this is a huge time saver and can literally mean the difference between life and death for a critical patient.
Although I have not personally seen this system in action I did do a lot of research for this article and can safely say the system has received national attention and great praise from the medical community.
